Dupe Culture in Beauty: 6 High-End Makeup Dupes That Actually Work in India (With Prices)

Budget makeup dupes in India compared with high-end beauty products.

I'll say it straight: I have nothing against expensive makeup. I've bought plenty of it. But I also think nobody should have to spend ₹2,700 on a lip product just to get a pretty glossy pout.

That's the whole idea behind dupe culture. You find the budget product that gives you roughly the same colour, finish or effect as the luxury one, and you keep the difference in your wallet. In India, where import duties and retail markups make high-end makeup properly expensive, it matters even more.

One honest note before we start. A dupe is not a clone. Some of these pairs are very close. Others match the look but not the formula, and I'll tell you which is which. Prices below are what I found listed in India at the time of writing, so check the current price before you buy, because they move.

1. Huda Beauty Orange Corrector vs e.l.f. Camo Color Corrector (Orange)

Huda Beauty Orange Corrector vs e.l.f. Camo Color Corrector (Orange)

The luxury one: Huda Beauty's #FauxFilter Color Corrector is listed at ₹2,700 for 9 ml at Sephora India. The brand says it's infused with vitamin C and niacinamide and meant to soften pigmentation and brighten the under-eye. The deeper orange tone is the Papaya shade, made for tan to rich skin.

The dupe: e.l.f. Camo Color Corrector in Orange is ₹750 on the e.l.f. India site. It comes in several shades (yellow, green, peach, orange, blue), so you can correct more than dark circles with it.

What's the same: Both are creamy, hydrating liquid correctors, and both use orange to cancel out blue-brown darkness under the eyes. many reviewer who owns both called the e.l.f. a dupe for the Huda one, which matches the general mood in reviews.

What's different: Huda's is the more pigmented and fuller-feeling of the two. A few e.l.f. reviewers mention the orange can look slightly reddish, so go sheer and build it up.

My tip: Dot it only on the darkest part of the circle, pat it in, then conceal on top. Too much corrector is what makes people look orange under the eyes, not the product itself.

Verdict: Best value pair on the list. For dark circles on a normal day, I'd buy the e.l.f. first. And if you like what e.l.f. does at this price, my e.l.f. Power Grip Matte Primer review covers how their primer holds up on oily skin in summer.

2. Inglot AMC Gel Eyeliner 77 vs Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

Inglot AMC Gel Eyeliner 77 vs Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

The luxury one: Inglot's AMC Gel Eyeliner 77 is a very black, waterproof, smudge-proof gel liner that makeup artists have loved for years. A 5.5 g pot was listed at roughly ₹2100 in India

The dupe: Maybelline's Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner comes in a 3 g pot, with Amazon India listings around ₹650.

What's the same: Both are pot gel liners that give a crisp, dark wing and need a brush.

What's different, and this is the part most dupe posts skip: the saving at the till is bigger than the saving per gram. At those prices Inglot works out to about ₹380 a gram and Maybelline about ₹215 a gram, so Maybelline is roughly 43% cheaper per gram, but about 69% cheaper to walk out of the shop with. Part of that gap is simply pot size: Inglot's pot is almost twice as big and has a reputation for being long-lasting, and you can loosen a dried pot with Inglot's own Duraline.

My tip: If you're new to gel liner, start with the Maybelline. If you're doing winged liner every day or for client work, the Inglot pot lasts longer.

Verdict: A close match on the look, with a big saving at the till. Good for beginners and for anyone who doesn't need a large pot.

3. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick vs L'Oréal Color Riche Intense Volume Matte 570 Worth It Intense

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick vs L'Oréal Color Riche Intense Volume Matte 570

The luxury one: Pillow Talk is the famous nude-pink shade. In the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. formula it has a satin finish and a hydrating, lipstick-tree-extract formula. Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks sell in India at ₹3,350 and above depending on the seller

The dupe: L'Oréal's Color Riche Intense Volume Matte in 570 Worth It Intense. It has a slim bullet, hyaluronic acid and a claimed wear time of up to 16 hours. pricing  ₹ 999

What's the same: The shade family. Reviewers on a UK retailer's site specifically called this L'Oréal range a great Pillow Talk dupe, and a Sephora community member said a different shade, 601 Worth It, was almost identical to Pillow Talk Fair.

What's different: The finish. Pillow Talk K.I.S.S.I.N.G. is satin and glowy. The L'Oréal is powdery matte. If you love that cushiony satin look, this one won't give it to you.

My tip: Shade names matter here. 570 and 601 are different, and Pillow Talk itself comes in more than one depth. Swatch before you commit, especially on deeper lips, where nude-pinks can look pale.

Verdict: Colour dupe, not a formula dupe. Great if you want matte.

4. MAC Soft & Gentle Highlighter  vs Matt look heart of mine bake 03 blossom

MAC Soft & Gentle Highlighter vs Matt look heart of mine bake 03 blossom

The luxury one: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle is a velvety baked highlighter. MAC describes the finish as high-frost and metallic. Listed at around ₹4000 for 10 g in India

The dupe: Matt look heart of mine , shade bake 03 blossom and ₹ 300 price .

5. Patrick Ta Major Dimension Eye Illusion Eyeshadow Duo vs SHEGLAM Prismalight Baked Gelee Eyeshadow Duo

Patrick Ta Major Dimension Eye Illusion Eyeshadow Duo and SHEGLAM Prismalight Baked Gelee Eyeshadow Duo

The luxury one: Patrick Ta's Major Dimension Eye Illusion Eyeshadow Duos are sheer, multidimensional shimmer duos, priced at $42 on Sephora US. The brand says they build from sheer to opaque. Review scores on Sephora Middle East sit at around 4.0 out of 5, and one reviewer called the pigmentation weak, so not everyone finds it worth the money.

The dupe: SHEGLAM Eyeshadow Palette at  $8.01.

What the dupe needs to do: deliver a soft, light-catching shimmer that you can layer from sheer to bold, with minimal fallout.

6. Fenty Gloss Bomb Stix in Blaz'd Donut vs Makeup Revolution Pout Lip Gloss Stick - Creme Brulee Mauve

Fenty Gloss Bomb Stix in Blaz'd Donut vs Makeup Revolution Pout Lip Gloss Stick - Creme Brulee Mauve

The luxury one: Fenty’s Gloss Bomb Stix is a gloss in stick form, with medium pigment and a high-shine finish. The brand lists squalane, vitamin E and shea butter, and says it locks in moisture for up to 8 hours. Blaz’d Donut is a light pink-beige. The Sephora India listing is ₹2,700 for 3.7 g.

The dupe: Makeup Revolution Pout Lip Gloss Stick in Creme Brulee Mauve is a gloss stick with hyaluronic acid. The price I found is ₹995.

What’s the same: Both are gloss sticks, so you get the shine of a lip gloss without a wand or a tube. Both are easy to swipe on without a mirror, and both have a hydrating ingredient list on the brand’s side: squalane and shea butter in Fenty, hyaluronic acid here.

Verdict: A similar glossy effect for far less, about 63% cheaper. Pick it for the stick format and the price, not as an exact shade twin.

So, are dupes really worth it?

Mostly yes. The best dupes on this list, the e.l.f. corrector in particular, make the luxury product hard to justify. Others, like the L'Oréal lipstick, copy the colour but not the feel.If you're planning a festive look this season, several of these picks, especially the nude-pink lipstick and the soft-glow highlighter, would slot straight into my Karwa Chauth makeup looks for 2026, so you can get the glam without paying for every luxury product.

My rule is simple: splurge on what touches your skin all day and has a formula you can't replace (a foundation you love, a skincare product that works for you). Save on colour products where the pigment is the main job.

Which pair would you try first? Tell me in the comments, and tell me which dupe I should test next.

FAQ

What is dupe culture in beauty?

Dupe culture is the habit of finding cheaper products that give a similar colour, finish or result to a high-end product, so you spend less for a similar look.

Is the e.l.f. Camo Color Corrector a good Huda Beauty dupe in India?

For the orange shade, many reviewers think so. It costs ₹750  against ₹2,700, though Huda's formula is more pigmented.

Is the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner as good as Inglot AMC 77?

They give a similar look. Inglot has the bigger pot and a loyal makeup artist following, while Maybelline is cheaper to start with.

Is L'Oréal 570 Worth It Intense a Pillow Talk dupe?

It's close in colour family, but it is matte while Pillow Talk K.I.S.S.I.N.G. is satin.

Are makeup dupes safe for sensitive skin?

Not automatically. Always check the ingredient list on the pack and patch test, whether the product is cheap or expensive.
